Mattie Cooke, Intern

I am a counseling intern who believes the keystone of building resilience is connection. I collaborate with clients to help them improve wellbeing despite the difficulties of life. My approach is person-centered and evidence-based, with an emphasis on connection and creating safety. I enjoy working with a wide range of clients, with a particular passion for supporting individuals navigating disability, chronic illness, and neurodivergence.

My therapeutic approach is integrative, drawing primarily from Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP) and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I believe healing happens through both emotional experience and practical skill-building. In our work together, we focus on creating a safe, supportive relationship where difficult emotions can be explored with curiosity and compassion, while also identifying unhelpful thought patterns and developing concrete tools to manage symptoms and daily stressors. This balanced approach allows us to address both the root causes of emotional pain and the strategies needed to support meaningful, lasting change.

The most important aspect of my work with clients is the relationship and trust we build together. Above all, I am here to support each client and to offer a warm, safe space they can return to. Through this process, I aim to help clients alleviate suffering and foster growth.
